Nationwide mismanagement of Job Corps calls for action!

Regarding St. Petersburg Job Corps Center and the forty million dollar question…

-Allison

“Call the Atlanta Job Corps Regional Office to find out why the center is still empty, or better yet, the National Job Corps Director, Edna Primrose. Or maybe the Secretary of Labor.

With Edna Primrose as Director,  just wait and see how many contracts end up going to Adams and Associates.”

Regarding Oneonta and Iroquois Job Corps Centers and Education and Training Resources Corp:

-Josephine

“How is the latest contractor doing at Oneonta?  ETR is the same company that runs Iroquois Job Corps and the Corporate Liaison for Oneonta is the same person who oversaw Iroquois for the last five years – and we know all about the complaints under her watch at Iroquois.

This 2008 article just quotes the same concerns that have been in existence since Oneonta Job Corps opened about thirty yrs ago. Wake up Oneonta, nothing is going to change unless the taxpayer/voters decide to do something about it.

The conservative corporation that runs the center, ETR, will continue to fleece the taxpayers of this country because they can. Conservatives love to criticize “big government”, but they are first in line when it comes to handouts like Job Corps contracts.

They don’t give a damn about the population they serve, just the profits they can generate at taxpayer expense. Pigs at the trough.

We’ve all seen how government oversight and regulation work.  Just look at the mines, oil drilling, Arizona border issues, the big banks, etc. Big business runs this country and buys off our legislators – Job Corps is just another symptom of our society run amuck.”

So you are one of those employees who took a job right after getting pregnant, so that you could abuse FMLA and abuse the system?

The Federal FMLA was not passed by Congress until 1993. Nancy was pregnant in 1980, so the logic of your comment is faulty.

Thank you Howard. Obviously, Amber Wilson may be a manufactured name. And this person who ever they are could just be blogging here to get at me. I’ve been a hard worker all my life, and NEVER ,EVER got pregnant for any other reason, than because I wanted a child at the time, and the love I have for my two children is living proof of that.To anyone who really knows me.

I didn’t know I was pregnant #1, they were suppose to make employees’s have physicals prior to hiring them, BUT THEY WANTED ME TO COME ON BOARD SO BAD, THEY BROKE THIER OWN RULE AND DIDN’T REQUIRE THAT I HAVE A PHYSICAL OR WE WOULD HAVE BOTH FOUND IT OUT PRIOR TO MY BEING HIRED. The thing about Job Corps, that you don’t seem to understand, along with all the other things you don’t seem to understand, IS IF THEY WANT TO BEND THE RULES THEY DO. I NEVER APPLIED FOR FMLA ,OR ABUSED THE SYSTEM. They fired me because my boss didn’t like the FACT THAT I DIDN’T LIKE PLACING PURCHASE ORDERS FOR FAKE PO’S THAT WERE SUPPOSE TO BE WORK AT THE JOB CORPS CENTER, AND INFACT WERE REALLY FOR WORK BEING DONE ON HIS HOUSE. THERE’S SOME ABUSE FOR YOU AMBER. And , I was awarded unemployment, a whole year of it while I had my baby. And when you go to work for unreputable , dishonest people like the one’s that run job corps, you should get unemployment when they wrongfully discharge you.

        Nancy,

You’re probably right that Amber Wilson is just trying to bait you. Your personal life is none of her business.

This blog is a Job Corps Fraud blog, intended to dialogue about both sides of an issue in an honest manner. Amber doesn’t even research her comments, she just throws out emotive comments with no factual back-up. Her comments are not worthy of response.

    Sept 10 2010 to Sept 10 1980 is not 30 years. It is a little under 30.

Gee, Amber , it’s about nine days short of 30 yrs, but who’s counting. Don’t you have anything better to do than nitpick? Maybe you should concern yourself with the much more serious issues of fraud and abuse that abound in all government contracting and appropriations – not just Job Corps.

Sure. Maybe Nancy and you should do the same, instead of complaining about being fired from previous jobs. Go find a new job. What is the point to all this whining? Every organization has its issue. Grow up and move on! 🙂

Amber, who is complaining about being fired from a job? Certainly not I, because it never happened – you are making assumptions that aren’t true. If you read some of the OIG reports that are posted on this blog, you will see that there is great concern for the operation of these contracts and the findings of members of Congress are in line with those reports and many of the issues taken up in this blog.

The point in bringing these issues to a public forum (whining as you call it) is to make people aware of how their tax dollars are being spent. Private companies are being funded by our tax dollars and making a big profit based upon fraudulent reporting and unfair labor practices. Maybe you like to fund crooks with your money; I and many others don’t.

Ambers comments DO NOT BELONG ON THIS BLOG. This blog is to tell people how thier tax dollars are misused by the Job Corps, and peoples personal experiences with that. There is a GREAT DEAL of concern , and should be at this time about American Tax dollars being spent for programs THAT DO NOT WORK. Amber is obviously, a CURRENT JOB CORPS EMPLOYEE who is using the blog to put people down who KNOW AND ARE WILLING TO SHARE THE TRUTH ABOUT JOB CORPS. NO ONE IS COMPLAINING about being fired from a job Amber, being fired in fact when you work with THIEVES is actually a God send, if your moral fiber makes it difficult for you to watch hard working American’s tax dollars being wasted, and stolen every single working day like happens at the Job Corps than you probably are better off not there. EXAMPLE: I wouldn’t want to be a bank robber, or cocaine dealer, or terrorist eiather.

Amber, I worked at the job corps in Oneonta, when it opened, it started BEFORE september 1980, because we had to set the whole place up. Infact, I purchased, sourced every classroom set up, every piece of equipment, furniture, cars, etc, etc for the site in Oneonta. This was to set up different class rooms/and training aspects of the Oneonta site. Where do you live Amber??

Nancy, you’re quite right about the ramp-up time involved prior to a center opening. It takes a lot of work and time to get a center ready. The average person, who is not familiar with Job Corps, has no idea that a center may have an opening date, like Sept. 10, 1980, but staff had been working on the renovation of the hospital (Oneonta JC was a TB hospital before it was rented by the Fed from the state of NY) and sourcing and purchasing all needed equipment, etc., for almost 2 yrs prior.

I am very familiar with Job Corps operations and I know first hand what you experienced at Oneonta. Dorothy and Amber don’t know what they are talking about.

I’ve seen it first hand. And yes I would believe it. Mr Obama needs to wake up and stop giving $$$$ to this program, and stimulus $$$$ which they all just recieved. So they can have more $$$$$$ to steal.

    Josephine,

I just worked at the ETR in Oneonta site. 30 years ago I was the procurement specialist for the Oneonta Job Corps when it opened. The administrative director [ my boss ] at that time was “writing bogus purchase orders” for contractor work that he said was being done at the job corps site; it was being done at his personal home instead. We did not end up getting along over this, because my name was on the purchase orders as the buyer. Now, 30 years later I work there again in the same office helping the buyer CATCH up with purchase orders, he sits on, but says he doesn’t have the time to get to. There is stealing I’m sure, going on there now as well. The fact that documentation is “massaged to look accurate ” would tell you that. The Accounting manager and the buyer are collusive on this. They are dishonest people, I beleive you’re correct, the DOL knows this and looks the other way. American taxpayers should be picketing, and lobbying, or what ever, contacting congressmen etc. We cannont afford in this economy to pay for organizations like the Job Corps stealing from everyone of us. And thats what it is stealing.

Oneonta has a long history of being a hornet’s nest. Would you believe that the same people who were involved in the early eighties at Oneonta, and Iroquois are involved with ETR today? They are still around, just recycling themselves behind the scenes, and just as dishonest.

        Dear Twisted,

Get your facts straight. Oneonta JC opened on Sept 10, 1980. ITT held the contract for four yrs, until 1984 when RCA was awarded the contract. In 1988, ITT took over the center once again.

Delaware Valley opened in 1978 and staff who ramped up that center, went to Oneonta to get it ready for opening in 1980.

How do I know this Dorothy? I was there.

I worked at the Job Corps in 1980, the summer of. I remember it vividly because I was pregnant for my 30 years old son, he just turned 30 in September, last week. My Administrative Director was VERY mad because he had hired a woman who was already pregnant before starting work there, and made many verbal discriminatory comments about it.
Not that we have that established that 1980 is the accurate year, as I was there. The first contractor was ITT .
